Hi, OP here, to answer your question, the slow cooker was sitting on the bench, underneath a shelf in our kitchen. As I took the lid off, the roach came from above, literally jumping into the pot! So I definitely did not see it before I took the lid off!

Unfortunately it also repels most humans.
I can tell you that the smell may not be the greatest but it fades quickly for our scent range. But it repels for a while
for real tho, why didn't you just scoop out the part that the roach touched? why would you throw out the whole thing if you spent 12 hours making it??
because the roach wasn't in there long enough to kill any diseases out was carrying and they could have gotten deathly ill.
just throw the roach away and the bit it touched, princess. your immune system needs a little exercise. it's not gonna kill you. YDI.
they carry deadly diseases... so yea it might.
Welcome to Australia.
yeah no I would have sill eaten it, especially if some with no judging eyes
Just a cockroach?! Pick it out and eat the casserole. If anything just throw away the small part that it was in

Here's a cockroach trivia for you, OP. When you see a cockroach, it is most certainly not alone. Who you gonna call?! The exterminators. You should call the exterminators.
Aren't you a tad bit concerned that there are **** roaches in your house??
