Good to know I'm not the only one the system bends over and goes to town on. But as far as driving out there to speak to them in person goes, it's about a 9 hour drive assuming there isn't too much traffic, which there usually is, so that's not a particularly viable option

Did you manage to reach someone in the end?
Been there many times. Unfortunately it's common practice by many call centres.
I had a similar problem with admissions and my advisor. I submitted my paperwork well over the time it takes to complete the process (6-8 weeks), and I had enough credits for automatic entry. I called at week 7 to find where my application was "Oh we're getting to it." Week 8 "Souldn't be too much longer.". Week 9 "Don't worry!". Finally we're almost at week 12 and I get some poor girl on the phone who says "Um, no we're not having problems here. You know it takes 6-8 weeks right?" I snapped back "It's been almost 12!" You could just hear the horror in her voice. "I'll set your folder on his desk. I'll have him call you." I was approved less than 12 hours later without a phone call of course. So I have less than 2 weeks to sign up for classes and I have to talk to my advisor first... Called her. Bitch was on vacation... College Advisor on vacation 2 weeks before classes start. So I tried to talk to the other advisor, "You are not my student, you need to wait for your advisor." I spent 2 days before class started scrambling for whatever was left to take. It literally ruined the rest of my college years.
Well now that is just plain asshole-quality for a company. FYL
maybe they were so busy they can only allow one second conversations.
They didn't give me a grant my second year because my "financial situation changed" (which it didn't). That meant I couldn't afford to live on campus anymore and have to commute 100 miles a day to school/work now. The financial aid office is literally Satan.

Maybe you should rethink your FIRST choice of college >:)
You would think for the tens of thousands you pay in tuition, they would hire more people to answer phones!
