Don't dump him, have him arrested.
There's so many people whining about how they must not have been paying attention to their statements and "deserve" it as a result. Aside from the fact no one deserves theft and fraud for such a thing, has it never occured to any of the people commenting that that perhaps it was the first month he did that?? It's obvious that with something like that happening so much, someone would notice, so the crook probably hits, does a bunch of purchases like that, then runs off to a new target, like so many other crooks. Maybe his name and all that they know him as isn't even the real one. He'd probably be gone before they even noticed, like so many con-artists, but she happened to be lucky and check the computer by accident. Remember, she found the purchases ia the invoices in his mail, so she probably didn't receive the statements with those purchases yet, or she'd have gone check on them. Statements only come once a month. It's obviously not a YDI case, it's a case of being conned by a fraudulent jerk who used his proximity to the girl to sneak into her credit cards and her parents, and use it all.
Well.... Happy Birthday!
Way to check your bank statements regularly. Your parents taught you well.
Michelle, baby, it was all for you. Don't be an ungrateful ****!! You have champagne wishes and caviar dreams and I only have a $250 limit on my starter Visa card. Give me another chance. I'll take you away for the weekend - your Dad has that one card with the $30k limit we can use to go somewhere nice.
Man, this makes me love my crdit card company so very much. When someone stole my cc # and tried to use it online, they immedietly saw that it was not a normal purchase for me, put a hold on my cc and called to have me call them and go through my purchases to make sure it wasn't me. I as shocked because it was the same day so no way I was going to be able to tell my # was stolen for about a month if they hadn't have done that for me. They cancelled my card and snt me a new one. Doesn't any cc companies in the states do this for their customers or does this just depend on what bank you get it through????
@#82: Some companies in the States do, others don't. It all depends on the company. The one my family uses is so jumpy that it gets set off on our own legitimate purchases, so chances are it would work on the non-legitimate ones. They also keep track of any possible security breaches in companies we've purchased things from at any time, and they'll send us new cards in case of a breach. However, I know a person with a different company that allowed thieves to spend thousands of dollars on gift cards at a store he had never shopped at. Apparently, the cashier didn't think it was odd either...
I have a Visa through the Royal Bank. I think Royal Bank operates in the U.S. I've always had my credit card through them and I have never had a problem. I do have a high interest rate, but that is because I do not pay a yearly fee, but it's not a big deal, I make my payments and in return, they cover my ass if someone takes my cc# or if I lose my job I also have insurance on my card through Visa that will make my payments for me.
what Dose OP mean ?
OP means Original Poster.. Ok so first off, I don't know many people that go and hide their wallets when they get home. Hell my bag usually ends up thrown on the floor when I get home from work and so it's not like she should have been super suspicious of her boyfriend that he would steal her information from her purse. Also she might not have seen her statement even online as of then. I know when I purchase things on my credit card through my bank things don't show up on the statement sometimes for up to a week. It will show there is a difference in my available credit, but wont put the exact balance and where the purchases were made for a while usually 3 days or more. So if the guy made a bunch of purchases in a hurry but not enough to tip off her creditcard company it is very possible for him to get away with it. The thing that sucks is some credit card companies depending on the fine print will force her to pay for the bill regardless of whether she actually purchased the items or not, while other companies might negate the bill for her. I still wonder how he got her parents' card info... Either way I hope she sues his ass and he ends up in jail.

Do people not keep track of their bank and credit card records anymore?
call him out on it, although, how did he even get your credit cards long enough for him to scan them as well as your parents without you noticing?
