Today, I waited over an hour for my bus. As I finally saw it approaching, I reached into my purse to grab my ticket. The lady next to me then gave the driver a hand signal to keep driving. FML

Why are you digging around in your purse for your ticket just as the bus is approaching? You had an hour to have it ready, so you could flag down the right bus. Of course, you could be like the typical inconsiderate asshole and not even think of looking for your ticket until you've boarded the bus and make all the other passengers wait as you begin your ticket hunt.

I tend not to get my SmarTrip card (which is what we use in the DC area for bus and rail) out until I see the bus approaching. But then my card is attached to my key ring. Most people wait until they see the bus to get their cards out. But unless I'm at a stop alone, I would never wave for the bus to keep going. I would step back in case someone else wants the bus. And when it's my bus, I step toward the curb and try to make eye contact. I hope you yelled at that lady, OP. It really sucks waiting a long time for a bus.

#22, I agree. Why would anyone who is waiting at a stop that serves multiple routes have the gall to speak for all the riders? I hope the OP gave that lady the appropriate hand gesture.

#13 Calm your shit, its not that important. I agree with #22 also.

And then you didn't give the signal for the driver to stop why?

She probably didn't think anyone would wave the bus on while other people were waiting and she was fishing around in her purse to get her ticket out.

This is what you do, you get really close to the lady and give her the crazy eyes look and say, "Pipe the **** down".

push her infront of the next bus.. lol

Just reading this made me feel angry :(

I would of waited and waved on her bus!

You should ahve given her a couple of hand signals 1: back of hand in front of her face, middle finger extended high 2: back of hand across her face

She probably resented that you sat there for an hour and didn't even try to strike up a casual conversation to pass the time. Your bad manners made her ... throw you under the bus!

This is such a simple FML, yet I feel so much sympathy for OP.

Indeed. It could happen to anyone of us. Very easy to feel sympathetic.
