No OP'S parents should've locked the door especially when doing something like that,and having kids in the house. I understand that they should have a sex life to but people make mistakes not like she's the first person to ever open the door before/forgetting knocking.

I don't think they deserve it just cause they didn't knock (we don't even know if OP did or didn't). Also, if they live in an older house the doors might not have locks. My door doesn't.

#65 doorknobs can be replaced with ones that lock. An even cheaper option is to add a small latch lock and as a bonus if it's high enough little kids can't accidentally lock themselves in.
