Today, I was driving back home when I saw a yellow object flying off my roof of my car through the side mirrors. I thought nothing of it, then I noticed that I didn't have my phone with me. That's when I realized that the "flying yellow object" was my phone. FML

No matter what it is, phone, purse, wallet, or drink. Always put it on your hood. When you get in to drive you'll be looking right at it. This has saved many a coffee for me.

I'm surprised it stayed there that long while you were driving, damn.

Why do I feel like I've seen this before.

That seriously sucks, but why was your phone not in your pocket? Most people put their phones in their pockets when they can't hold them for whatever reason.

pockets work infinitely better than the roof of a car, in my opinion.

Brings back fond memories of when I did this exact thing. Put my phone on top of my car so I could put my hair up and then drove away. A block away from work some asshat pulled out in front of me and I had to brake hard so the phone went flying. It was a Motorola Razr; I'll let you guess how it turned out.

You couldn't slip your phone in your back pocket? Of course that can't always happen depending on what you are wearing...but perhaps tossing it in your passenger seat might be a good idea for now on

once my mum drove miles with a box of wheatabix (sp?) on the roof of her car. Strangers were gesturing from their cars and she didn't know why, but when she got home there it was. Upright. She was lucky, I do hope you get another phone soon. Be more careful next time!

First of all, why would you think nothing of something flying off the roof of your car while driving? That could have been something coming off your car; not to mention the danger to anyone driving behind you. Second: I'm sorry you lost your phone, but you left it on the roof of your car and that's why it's gone. No one to blame but yourself. YDI
