Today, I was dying my hair a subtly different color. It was only supposed to turn my hair a shade or two lighter, but it seems someone at the store thought it would be funny to switch the dye in the boxes around. My hair is purple. FML

It was my first time getting my hair dyed, and I only wanted it a little lighter and not pay 100 dollars compared to 10 dollars haha. And it sucked because I had to go to my waitressing job at a fancy restaurant right afterwords.

The person that did that to you needs to eat shit and dye!

Wauw thats really unlucky! But on the bright side, purple hair is awesome!

It's the kinda thing where if it happened to me I'd be PISSED However doing it to someone else would be hilarious

That's why you look at it before you put it in your hair.

You pay for what you get... I'd never recommend using box dye. It's terrible for your hair in the first place. Just get it professionally done, or don't do it at all.

I always do it myself and it turns out good every time. Same goes for most of the people I know. Don't be such a snob.

I buy the tubes of professional dye from sallies

embrace it! everyone should dye there hair a funky color color at least once in there life (or buy a rainbow of wigs like I do)

Leela is how purple is pronounced in Swedish, haha.

Say it was to support the Boston shooting since apparently purple is the color

What Boston shooting? I only heard of the bombs going off at the end of the marathon.

Oh, yes, let's support this terrorism.

No. Not always I died my hair a darker brown and it was purple. A year or so I helped my sister dye her hair blonde. And, it looked purple.

Is that you, OP? If so, why post anonymously and then comment here :/

And you didn't notice the color until after you finished...

sorry that happened. I'm a waitress too so I know how strict the rules can be at restaurants. hope your boss understood and you fixed it right away.

@158 Purple hair is awesome. Unfortunately, many professional workplaces (i.e. a fancy restaurant) do not permit any unnatural hair color (Purple, Blue, Pink, etc).

That sucks. I hope your boss was cool with it,on another note a friend of mine has purple hair :3

I'm nearly fifty. I died my hair a turquoise-ish blue. I loved it and got many compliments. Had some purple, tried it and got even more! So, it's not really the color, it's how well you wear it!

That's why it's called a professional appearance.

lol what did your boss have to say about that.

its not necessarily the quality of the dye or someone switching the colors. if you left the dye in too long (especially something with lighteners) it can result in a different color. often purple or green.

I've never liked color in a box. Never trust that the color on the box is the same color your hair will become.

Forgive me, but that's what you get for being so cheap. Next time spend the money and not look like an idiot. Win win.

This is why you colour your hair when you have a day or two off. If something goes wrong, you will have the time to fix it. Hope all turned out well for you, OP.

But purple hair isn't exactly appropriate for a fancy, up-scale restarant... It'd probably be fine if it was a bar or club or something, but...

I once bought a light brown and it turned my hair orange. I thought it was cool, but my mom didn't haha

I tend to reach for the boxes near the back, just in case.

Most people switch the ones in the back from what i have seen

There's something you can get called color oops. Its at walmart, and it takes the dye off and then it's almost to your natural shade. Hope this helps!

Too bad there isn't any Walmart in the rest of the world... (at least I haven't seen one in Europe)

We don't have Walmart in the UK, but we do have something called ColourB4, I'm guessing its pretty much the same thing as it totally strips the dye colour out of your hair but in a natural, nice way.

Color oops does not remove purples, blues, greens, etc..
