Today, I was working at my job as a cashier, checking out an elderly woman's groceries. She was very nice, and we chatted for a couple minutes. Once she had paid, she leaned close to me and said, very politely, "I'm so so sorry that I mistook you for a girl at first, young man." I AM a girl. FML

It's surprisingly easy to mistake someone's gender. Once met someone who was really athletic, lean, had fairly short hair, and no feminine features. I mentioned that he was "a really cute guy" Turns out it was a woman, and she wasn't very happy. A stupid mistake of mine. Nevertheless, it's nothing to be down about, many women are attracted to more feminine guys, myself included.

This reminds me of that one SpongeBob episode with the soda drink hat. Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob, "That hat makes you look like a girl!" And SpongeBob replies, "Am I pretty girl Mr. Krabs?" "Umm, yeah, you're beautiful." XD Sorry for that totally random comment.

YDI for taking a compliment like the woman that the kid claimed you to be usually does (in that an awkward compliment gets spun wrong EVERY time). The kid was implying that you're attractive. Even if you don't wanna take the compliment this way, it's still your fault for letting something a kid says get to you. I got called a crayon once.
