Haven't you ever heard of snail mail? Could have sent it before your cat died.
This isn't the people at the clinic being insensitive or lacking compassion, it's a simple case of human error. That doesn't make it hurt any less, but obviously they would never intentionally send out a reminder for a dead pet. The reminders might have been printed before your cat died and they only just now sent them out. The alternative is that they might not have updated your cat's file in their system yet. It's a stupid error, but it could happen pretty easily if someone forgets to do that one little thing on the computer. You should give them a call to let them know what happened in case it is a record keeping problem so that it won't happen again. I'm so sorry for your loss, OP. :(
I'd bet that's exactly what happened. I work at the vet. The computer prints the reminders automatically, we stamp and remove the ones that don't need to be sent, but counting the time it takes to sort, stamp, and mail... the postcard could easily have printed out before kitty was deceased. My condolences to the OP.
Sorry for your loss, but also, vet clinics send out these notifications almost a month ahead, and there's (depending on the size) a lot of clients that get the letter, it's easy for it to get overlooked when you're making 500 of them
Do you really plan on keeping your cats remains in a vase? Weird
Why's it weird? We have our cat in a decorative urn in the back garden. It's not weird at all.
My kitty's remains are in a wooden box on the table where she liked to lie.
my first thought was 'so what, it's only a cat', but then i remember bawling my eyes out when my hamster got put down so i can (slightly) empathise
They're usually automatically sent and they're not checked so they most likely didn't update their system before the letter was printed and sent out. That or they were trolling you.
I've never had a pet die. Or let alone even have a pet besides fish. But that sounds pretty bad. Especially when its death was rehashed a short time later.
