Today, I was taking a pizza order at work, and had to ask the customer's name. I couldn't quite hear what he said, so rather than asking him to repeat himself, I asked how it was spelled. He gave me a funny look and said, "Um, A.J.?" FML

That's alright. Sometimes you're so used to doing something you kinda space out and go into autopilot. Not a big deal. I'm sure A.J will forgive you.

Did that happen to be A.J. Green?

I do this all the time at my work. I work in a photo department. Sometimes I just can't hear the name, and it more time efficient.

That sounds really awkward. I'm sorry. It happens to everyone sometimes. Next time though, you should just ask them to repeat themselves because A.J. isn't the only common name that's really easy to spell.

I'm more annoyed by people that ask me to spell my name, which I do, but they still get it wrong.

Haha I like how you said you were talking on the phone with him, and then after asking him how to spell his name, he "gave you a weird look." That's weird. I'm pretty sure you said y'all were on the phone!?

Yeah, no they never mentioned a phone once. Perhaps re-read things before you comment on them?

I know exactly how that feels!! I can't even count how many times that has happened to me at work.

It's not unusual to not understand what people are saying on the phone. Heck, It happens to me all the time.

well it can be spelled A.J or Ajay so it's not completely embarrassing
