Today, I was talking to my future mother-in-law about my upcoming wedding. She told me that I wasn't allowed to have the wedding at a church, nor wear a white dress, nor have roses for flowers, because that would mean I'd be "copying" her. FML

Today, I called my mom to make sure she could attend on the wedding day my fiancé and I had discussed. She started off with criticizing the venue we considered, then went on to criticize my fiancé, and then stated she would under no circumstances help out, but demanded to pick my wedding dress. FML

Today, my soon-to-be mother-in-law decided that she is going to be in charge of planning my wedding. All decisions must be approved by her, and anything she doesn't like will be thrown out. She also wants to go on our honeymoon with us to make sure I don't "defile" her son. FML

That's when you tell her.."she's not allowed to eat, drink or breath"...because then she'd be "copying you". & then tell her how stupid & childish it sounds for her to tell you what you can/can't do and just leave it @ that....if she wishes to be a bitch even more...just elope like my wife & I did, to leave all the familial "jackasses" out of it....or just don't invite her.

It's your wedding and you should be able to do what you want to do. Who cares what she thinks. Tell your fiance about it and see what he says about it. Hopefully he's not a mama's boy and doesn't side with his mom otherwise you will have some major problems in throughout this marriage. Goodluck!

Listen to someone that's been dealing with an in approving mother in law for 25 years. Don't do it!!! If you get into this marriage, your life will be a living hell. She obviously doesn't approve of you, it will not get better. It'll get worse & when your 50 & she's 83, it'll still be going on!

Aw this makes me so worried. My older sister's boyfriends mom is already psycho about them dating, if they get married I really hope it doesn't get worse. It seems like the mothers of boys really get possessive about their baby when it comes time to leave the nest. :(
