The song seems daunting but is redeemed by: "but touch my tears with your lips, touch my world with your fingertips, and we can have forever, and we can love forever; forever is our today" I always found it a hopeful love song. Just IMO

I had the lead role in my School's production of 'We Will Rock You,' and specifically due to this song, the female lead and i got together. So your girlfriend singing that song isn't all bad. :)
