Today, I was terminated from my job. This comes after I sent HR an email about an inappropriate relationship between my manager and a counselor. Seems like I should have kept my mouth shut. FML

Every time I was witness to things like that which were against company policy, I made an anonymous complaint in writing to both HR, the head of HR, and the head of the division or branch who was above the level of those who were doing wrong. Can't fire me if you don't know who I am, though I would sometimes get called in along with other people so they could try and root out the "troublemaker." I'd play dumb, of course, because surely they'd fire me for some made up reason.

There are "whistle-blower" protection laws and rules in most com

And in the comments we see a bunch of people being shitty over not allowing people to break rules. Rules are in place for a reason. It's not like it's accidental. They knowingly broke the rules, and I doubt op would care if it didn't affect the business. I mean, if they kept it out of work how would op know?

So you can't date someone from your workplace in America? is that what it's about? Not money laundering or dodgy contracts? Just sex? Wow, that's weird

Fellow non-American here, and thinking exactly the same thing! Seems like a weird rule to exist, and even if such rules exist, it seems even weirder to actually complain to HR about people dating or having sex or whatever. I'm happy not to work in such a place.

Get a damn good Lawyer that works on commission. Also have lawyer complain to the State Licensing Board for the Mental Health Division. Ask why said "professional " still has their license after having used a relationship to directly cause harm to your mental health. Describe relationship to Mental Health Division, if it is sexual in nature that is against the law. Sue and ask for your job back. HR screwed up BIG TIME. Doesn't feel like it, but you are actually in the drivers seat if you handle it right. Good luck.

Unless their relationship is compromising the company than you should have left it alone. That's entirely your fault and you definitely deserve it. Mind your own business.

Sucks to be you, OP. Happened in a company I used to work for before. The team leader has a relationship with a member directly below him and the person who told HR was almost immediately terminated.

Maybe try minding your own business. Hopefully you've learned not be a snitch

Unless the relationship was directly affecting your job then, yes, you should have kept your mouth shut.

Sounds like something that would happen at the retarded place I work at.
