I hate the sloppy people in art classes, or those who fiddle with the stuff that's not theirs. The stuff people make in class gets graded, so others shouldn't be messing with it. several of my clay sculpture pieces, a few that I worked on for several weeks, have been shattered, glued together and rendered unusable because someone put them together touching during glaze fire, ruined by people grabbing it with their filthy hands covered in clay or glaze and ruining my texturing or glazing, or just plain lost/stolen because of people messing with my work. You do NOT do anything "vigorously" when you could potentially ruin someone else's stuff, especially if the project is something they're getting graded on. Sorry for long comment, it's just so annoying to me.
sorry to be that guy, but if it was that important than wouldn't she kind of be responsible for making sure it is covered and away from beginner art classes? If she was in an advanced class it means she has been painting for a while and should reasonably be expected to take care of her work. It is just common sense. To blame a beginner who messed up is like taking a puppy to be put down 'cuz it whizzed on the carpet all of twice. to put it in context, if this post was from her perspective, would not people just be telling her it was her fault for not putting it away safely to begin with? straight up double standard yo'
Why in the heck would you paint vigorously, you deserved it, definitely!!

Last time I checked, that's why you don't "vigourously apply primer." ESPECIALLY around other peoples work. You were basically asking for an accident.
YDI, and FHL. You shouldn't have been "vigorously" putting on primer to the point where you're spraying it everywhere. Learn how to not act like a jackass in the studio, and until you do, stay the hell away from other people's work.
