Kaka_Karrot_Kake tells us more.
Ok to clear things up, I was walking home and he asked for money. He looked, and even SMELLED like a homeless person. Sure enough, I gave him money and all of a sudden he got up and started walking and I saw him take out an iPhone 5 and call his friend. I heard him say, "Lol dude it worked!" Sorry I wrote so much ._. And no he was NOT really homeless

One time, I gave my pocket change to a pan-handler who I noticed was wearing some really fancy gold and opal earrings. Then later, when I got on the bus, I saw him and overheard him bragging to the guy next to him about how many tvs he had and which rooms he put them in. Then, I read a local article about how pan handlers often have shifts and make more than someone working minimum wage. And I decided to either give food, or donate to the soup kitchen and things like that, instead of giving cash to people with signs. I don't believe anyone deserves to be homeless, and I feel sorry that people live that way, but I don't think cash is the answer.
He was a hipster.
Panhandlers in decent areas make more from begging than most people do working two jobs. Sucks that you got ripped off.

Should have taken your dollar back! What a pan handling dick. At least you tried doing the right thing, OP.
At least you were being a decent person. But that sucks that he stole your money
