I get it all the time. I'm a female but I dress quite androgynously. When I'm wearing a coat, you can't really see my boobs and my hair is quite short so... I don't blame people for not knowing I'm a woman. I remember washing my hands in the girls bathroom when a woman walked in and gave me one of the most disgusted looks I've ever seen in my life. She stared me down until I left. My friend is quite androgynous too and has been kicked out of the girls bathroom at a restaurant before even though she wasn't doing anything bad, she was just washing her hands.

I was that woman once. There was a girl washing her hands in the bathroom who was somewhat large, wearing very baggy clothes, and had a bowl haircut. I panicked thinking I'd gone into the wrong room and just ran back out. I didn't realize my mistake until I saw her again much later, and I still did a double take.

This happens to me all the time. Not even kidding at least once a week.
