Today, I waved at a baby while standing in line in a store. It started screaming. Its mom looked over in mild concern and gave me a disturbed glare before moving to the next checkout counter over. FML

Resting bitch face strikes again. I'm sorry OP, I bet you're a nice person.

Babies cry often maybe it was a bad timing. By the way if you make a funny faces they can laugh so you can try it.

Stick out your tongue at him/her. Works for my bf to shut up crying babies. :P Haven't tried it myself though.

Don't worry OP: children cry for anything and mothers are paranoid. Their problems- nothing to do with you.

Don't sweat it OP. Today I was walking to work when it started pouring. There's a school near buy and the a kid standing at the crosswalk next me was without an umbrella and was getting soaked. so I put mine over his head and walked that way with him until he was in the building. I got a couple of pedophile looks but hey I know I did something good and that's all that matters. you smiled. did nothing more. F HerLife!!

I don't even make eye contact with babies/kids. Brats, most of them.

They're not brats for crying. Stranger danger is a natural stage of development and is apparently warranted if people like you have a negative reaction to an innocent child.

I kinda have to say YDI, I can understand if you had approached and commented on the child or was passing by but the fact that you stared down and waved at a child is beyond creepy.

A lot of people find babies cute. I've had a lot of babies and children watch or smile at me in public so what's wrong if you smile or wave at a child? And if you are in line there isn't much to do. Making a child smile or wave is adorable and at least gives me some happiness.

No, she doesn't deserve it. As a mother myself, I'm used to people staring at my son. It was beyond rude for the mother to do that to her. You simply smile and deal with your child. You don't act like the person was a demon looking at your child.

Sorry OP! I love babies but if they're between 6-18 months I avoid making eye contact with them. My 9 month old just got over his crippling fear of strangers. He used to cry whenever someone looked at him or spoke to him in the grocery store and I felt awful.

Dear Op, that would be a "perturbed" stare.
