Today, I went hiking at a park by my house with my camera to do some still life. On my way home I noticed some tree blossoms in someone's backyard and tried to take pictures of them over their fence. In minutes, I was approached and interrogated by cops because they thought I was a peeping tom. FML

************************************************************************************************************** Just to make things a little a more clear since I couldn't in the FML: 1. I am not the 70+ year old man from the other FML, although I did laugh at the idea cause of the coincidence LOL 2. I was not leaning over the fence, the fence was my height. I was merely holding the branch with my hand to the right lighting for the image I wanted. 3. I agree, I could've asked permission, but since I was on the road side of the fence, and this fence was at the back of their house, I didn't feel like walking all the way back around the corner to find this house after hiking. For all I know, they probably weren't there. 4. The funniest thing is, they did ask to see my camera and the images, and then just acted like nothing happened. But they did scare the shit out of me because I had my iPod headphones in and didn't hear them approach me and call me from their vehicle. 5. Lastly, F*CK THE POLICE! No, I'm just kidding :P They had the right I guess, but man was that embarasing. **************************************************************************************************************

Was it a privacy fence? If so, ask permission next time, and go back there for a better view. YDI. Amusing, though. (and while I'm here, I'll be cool and scream "Yay, first!!!111")

...And then you showed them all the wonderful still lifes from the park and the tree, and they said, "Sorry for the inconvenience, sir. Next time try not to take pictures over someone's privacy fence. Have a nice day." The end.

I understand that the artist in you wanted to capture something beautiful, but you should have thought this through more. It's not nice, for what ever reason (even if it is inocent) to go near private property with a camera like that. If you saw a pair of arms reaching out over your fence witha camera, wouldn't you too think the worst? Next time think befor you snap!

Ahaha, I'm a professional photographer and believe me, I have almost been in this situation before. XD. I think we photographers are born without that "boundaries" part of our brain. Though, I'm a woman, and unfortunately, there is much more of a stigma against men with cameras than females with cameras when it comes to the whole "Peeping Tom" thing. I hope you at least got some beautiful shots!

penis. just use the penis. works every time.

the peeping tom couldve been a peeping tamara too yknow.

That really sucks, I live in a small town with lots of big, beautiful old houses so I really enjoy taking pictures of them and stuff. But there's always that lingering fear in the back of my mind that something like this will happen. FYL

16, I laughed my ass off. XD

Well it seems like you didn't get arrested or anything, so I don't see the big deal. Just ask the homeowners next time.

Haha, I chose FYL because as an artist, I know how it can be when something catches your eye. Next time, try to remember to ask though.
