Today, I went shopping for a wedding dress at a fancy store. The proprietor took one look at me, said they don't have any dresses large enough for me, and asked me to leave. No wonder my self-confidence is in the gutter. FML

Ok, OP here. The first woman I asked did not even attempt to size me, just sent me to the 'plus' section. When I got to the plus section, she did not size me either, but looked me up and down and asked me what size t-shirt I wear. I usually wear a medium when I wear stretchy tees, large when I don't. She told me they will not have anything in my size in white ever. I should not go other places, either, I should just call and that way I don't have to be disappointed everywhere I go. Thank you guys for your words of encouragement, but I think I'm just going to not get a dress.

I was treated very badly when I bought my dress. I called the headquarters and told them I would call the news and they gave me my dress for free.

She's probably just jealous because she's not getting married. Always a wedding dress seller, never a wearer.

Screw that place! You wear a medium/large and they don't have dresses to fit you? WTF is wrong with those stores? Not everyone is a size 2!

i remember dealing with the same issue when i was shopping for my dress. i recomend a website called mary's bridal. bought my wedding dress there for a third of what i would have paid in store and the quality of the dress was superb! oh, and it was easy to find several in my plus siz! :)

marys bridal. look them up online. im a very large girl so i had lots of trouble finding mine. mary's had a massive selecyion of dresses to chose from. my dress was very high quality when it arrived and it fit like a glove!

Self confidence doesn't depend on other people. Self confidence is about how much YOU love yourself. Up to you to decide if you want to lose weight. If you don't then just be you and don't mind what other people think.

Yes, OP might be too big for all the dresses they have in stock (and I'm saying it as a fact, not like it's a bad thing), but is there really any reason for the clerk to be so mean? Just be nice, size the customer just to be sure, then say nicely: "I'm sorry but I'm afraid we don't have any dresses in your size. Why don't you try (insert store name) or look for your dress online?" It's basically saying the same thing but in a nice way so OP's self confidence doesn't get shot.
