Today, I went shopping for a wedding dress at a fancy store. The proprietor took one look at me, said they don't have any dresses large enough for me, and asked me to leave. No wonder my self-confidence is in the gutter. FML

Ok, OP here. The first woman I asked did not even attempt to size me, just sent me to the 'plus' section. When I got to the plus section, she did not size me either, but looked me up and down and asked me what size t-shirt I wear. I usually wear a medium when I wear stretchy tees, large when I don't. She told me they will not have anything in my size in white ever. I should not go other places, either, I should just call and that way I don't have to be disappointed everywhere I go. Thank you guys for your words of encouragement, but I think I'm just going to not get a dress.

I was treated very badly when I bought my dress. I called the headquarters and told them I would call the news and they gave me my dress for free.

She's probably just jealous because she's not getting married. Always a wedding dress seller, never a wearer.

Wow what horrible people! That situation could have been handled way better. Weddings are supposed to be about happiness and excitement not some stupid store being condescending about your weight. I am sure you will be a beautiful bride :)

you should sue for discrimination and have them pay for the whole wedding :) just saying.

They can't just make you leave for no reason

damn OP im sorry the person was such a bitch. that was so uncalled for. hopefully youll find an awesome dress somewhere else. also congrats on getting married!

As a recently engaged, heavier than average woman, I can say that this really pisses me off. If someone said that to me, I wouldn't just shrug it off. I'd throw some pretty unladylike words their way and make some inappropriate gestures unfitting for a future bride. Seriously, it irks me to no end the way heavier people are treated just because they're heavy. Not everyone can be the size of a toothpick, and it may not be because of eating habits. Regardless, both women at that store were out of line and should be sued. OP, I wish you luck in finding a beautiful dress; surely there are some out there somewhere for us bigger girls! In fact, I think you're smaller than I am after reading your reply to this submission, so I think those two were just being bitches. I'm sure you'll make a beautiful bride!

Soooooo… just out of curiosity, how large are you?

That happened to a friend of mine. She complained and got a free veil, a discount, and free alterations. I'm sorry that happened, though. I'm sure you will look beautiful.

Hope that lady got fired. Or, the fancy place burns down. A bride going to find her perfect dress should not be treated that way. It's suppose to be a great experience. No matter the size. Try somewhere else. And remember. You are beautiful.

It couldn't be that hard to sow something big enough? Bitches these days...
