Today, I went shopping for a wedding dress at a fancy store. The proprietor took one look at me, said they don't have any dresses large enough for me, and asked me to leave. No wonder my self-confidence is in the gutter. FML

Ok, OP here. The first woman I asked did not even attempt to size me, just sent me to the 'plus' section. When I got to the plus section, she did not size me either, but looked me up and down and asked me what size t-shirt I wear. I usually wear a medium when I wear stretchy tees, large when I don't. She told me they will not have anything in my size in white ever. I should not go other places, either, I should just call and that way I don't have to be disappointed everywhere I go. Thank you guys for your words of encouragement, but I think I'm just going to not get a dress.

I was treated very badly when I bought my dress. I called the headquarters and told them I would call the news and they gave me my dress for free.

She's probably just jealous because she's not getting married. Always a wedding dress seller, never a wearer.

Your self confidence is no ones fault but your own. So she was mean to you, suck it up and don't let it bother you. If it does and you agree with her that your size is a negative issue in your life then do something to change it. Stop the boo-hoo poor me my self confidence is the product of OTHER people. No, its not; it's your SELF confidence. Put down the Ben & Jerry's and go for a walk.

Everything we do is affected by the way others react to us, don't pretend you can shrug off every mean comment that's directed at you. What happened to OP wasn't just an insult - it was offensive, embarrassing, and just plain rude and there was no need to be. No wonder it crushed her confidence. As for the Ben & Jerry's comment - who are you to say that OP sits around all day eating and does no exercise?! Clearly she can't be huge if she only wears a M-L. Get off your high horse and stop jumping to conclusions.

"Sorry we only have sizes 1,3, and 5... You could try sears?" Sorry but definitely reminded me of Mean Girls. XD Otherwise that's just rude and awful. I work in customer service and I would never turn someone down right off the bat.

What a total douche! !!! I don't even know what to say to people like that. They shouldn't be in retail if they are going to treat a customer with such utter disrespect. Congrats on your engagement, OP !

The lady is a bitch and fat shaming......now if your weight is making you feel insecure, then change it.

Don't give up on getting a wedding dress, OP. You deserve a beautiful dress on your day. I'm sorry people are jerks.

I would go all "Pretty Woman" on them, buy lots of stuff at another store then go back to the one that turned you away and rub it in their face :D And there is NOTHING wrong with a bigger woman :D Obviously your fiancee agrees :D
