LaineyLove tells us more.
I'm the one who wrote the FML. I'll clear some things up for those of you who think I deserved it. The FMLs have to be short so I couldn't write the whole story. My main symptoms were severe joint and muscle pain along with cramping and headaches. The stomach pain was constant, not just when I ate bread. I had a hard time even digesting vegetables. I went to doctors practically every week and scoured the internet. I was finally "diagnosed" with fibromyalgia and IBS. My first Celiac blood test came back negative, but finally my gastroenterologist figured it out. I'm now gluten-free, and I'm feeling much better (although hungry). And I'm a pre-med student, so I'm not an idiot. I saw at least 5 different doctors and specialists. I even went to Mayo Clinic. Celiac can be a very difficult diagnosis as the symptoms are often non-specific. Thanks for all the tips on gluten-free food. It's time for me to start cooking!

I have the same disease, it sucks, but you learn to get used to it. I no longer mind when I can't eat a cake, or cookies, or pasta, or pizza, or whatever. The only thing that pisses me off is when my friends, who know about my inability to eat wheat, order a pizza and then simply say sorry when I ask if there are any alternatives. And to the person who said that it is "Coeliac disease" and "learn to spell it". Either spelling is correct. Look it up.
dont worry! its all good my sister has that so she cant eat bread so neither do i because I don't want to make her upset. there are lots of alternatives and its really not that bad!
Hey, My best friend has Celiac disease too. It's not as bad as you originally think, just stay positive and try new things, there's a lot of information out there if you look. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's sell gluten free items and PF Changs, Outback Steakhouse, and Uno Pizza have gluten free menus. I'm sure there's more, those are just a few.
If you happen to by chance live in the Pittsburgh area... www.gluuteny.com :) THEY ARE AMAZING.
I really hope you didn't keep eating bread once you knew you were allergic to gluten, if you did then you deserve it since you didn't bother to check out what your disorder/allergy meant. If you are just now finding it out then that sucks.
LOL! Me too!
I agree with #25! why did you wait a year to go to the doctors? and wouldn't your stomach hurt more if you kept eating bread each time?
Bread didn't ease the pain - nothing did, but my mother, who is a nurse, told me eating something simple like bread might help. The effects of gluten weren't immediate. My stomach hurt 24/7, so I couldn't tell what was causing it. I tried eliminating dairy and all fatty foods to no avail. I had tested negative for Celiac earlier, so I had ruled that out. Turns out the tests aren't always accurate. You need a small intestine biopsy. And I went to over 5 doctors. I was at the doctor nearly every week getting blood work done. I had a strange case that presented as more rheumatic or neurological, so it took a long time and lots of doctors to put it together. That happens more than you would think. Diagnosis isn't always simple.

that does suck. but. didn't the bread just make you feel worse? and if so, why did you keep eating it each time?
Im sorry... I know what that one is like... they thought I had that too. There are plenty of support groups out there, and a lot of alternatives.. keep your head up!!!!
