Today, I went to the movies with some girlfriends. The guy behind us was making these pervy, heavy breathing noises, so we threw some popcorn at him. When the movie finished, we saw him in a wheelchair - with a breathing tube sticking out of his neck. FML

Today, I finally got to watch a movie after 3 months in hospital. I didn't feel very well since the air conditioner was too strong, and suddenly some girls started throwing things at me for no reason. I had to go back to the hospital that night. FML

You were lucky that the guy wasn't the dad from God Bless America.

unlucky haha, its just mean how everyone thinks you somehow deserved it :/

why should she be ashamed? 1. they had no idea he was in a wheelchair. 2. he was disturbing the movie with his breathing. (refer to 1) 3. they thought he was a pervert. 4. they were in a group so obviously peer pressure is a factor. enough said...

Because: 1) His being in a wheelchair isn't the point. The wheelchair should not be the only factor discouraging someone from throwing popcorn at strangers. It's incredibly rude and immature regardless. 2) "He was disturbing the movie with his breathing"...seriously? Would you prefer he not breathe so that others can have a more 'convenient' trip to the movies? I'm sure the OP and their friends disturbed people with their childish popcorn throwing as well, which, unlike the man's breathing, was obviously not a necessary measure to maintain their lives. 3) If he really was a pervert, how would antagonizing him by throwing things at him help the situation at all? There's some freaky people out in the world, and you never know. Purposely pissing off someone you consider questionable can be an invitation to stalk you, or worse. 4) Peer pressure is often a factor in ridiculous behaviour, but is no excuse. People are given their own minds ...it's their decision whether they think for themselves or act like a pack of idiots. In conclusion, I do think they should have felt ashamed of their behaviour. However, we've ALL done stupid things, especially as teenagers, and we can't learn and move forward without doing something idiotic from time to time. Hopefully it's a lesson learned now, and this particular mistake won't be repeated. Then, OP can forgive herself and move on.

Attica #358 you are fantastic beautifully said
