Today, I woke up at 3:45 am, and got ready to leave my house before 5, since I needed to be at my new job for orientation at 6. When I got there, I realized they actually meant 6 pm. FML
I agree, your life sucks 14 550
You deserved it 3 175

SeriouslyEvery tells us more.

OP here. I assure you I follow directions very well. I asked and he told me AM, so I got ready until my brother, who also just started there, assured me it was PM

Though you made a mistake, good on you for being organized. Having this feature will definitely help you in the long run, OP

That sucks! But at least is better than having it backwards and missing orientation. Besides, it makes a good story ;)

This is why I don't like using "am" and "pm" use the military or 24hr clock :) 18:00 is easier

I had the same thing happen to me. The manager told me the time it was going to be, which was from 3-6pm, but when I got there, she said I missed the whole thing because it was from 9am-3pm. I was so confused. Not only that, but I has to walk a mile or so the the store while it was raining and got soaked. One of the other managers felt bad and drove me home. I submitted an FML on it, but it didn't get published. Anyway, I get how you feel. I just went to orientation today, and everything went really well, I even made sone friends, so I hope everything goes well for you too, OP : )

At least you didn't think it was the other way around

welp at least it wasnt the other way around. i once applied for an evening job and when they said 7, i assumed 7pm. wrong. didnt get the job.

Look at the bright side, at least it wasn't the other way around where you thought it was 6PM, and it ended up being 6AM...

Better that then showing up at 6pm and finding out the wanted you there at 6a

At least you can go back to sleep for about 10 more hours

I don't remember days exactly but it hardly matters... I was hired at a grocery store on, let's say, Monday. We had our orientation that day and was told I start Tuesday at 10 a.m.. Now I was not told a date or told it was tomorrow. So I of course get a call the next day wondering where the hell I am. I explained the situation where no one clarified I was to start today (tomorrow) and assumed I started next week. It went over well, I came in late that day and was forced to stay until close. I quit that job after a week because I was very clear about wanting part time (specifying 20-25 hours a week) and they had me scheduled 37 the first week and the second was 38.5. The longest I worked was 7.5 hours, half an hour too short to have a half hour break (aka time to eat... 10 minutes isn't enough to clock out, trek to the break room, eat and trek back to the clock). Id come home in pain and starving after almost 8 hours.

I have no idea how you could have gotten that wrong. ydi
