Today, it's my 26th birthday. My girlfriend gave me a matchbox car, a glow necklace, and a squirt gun. For her birthday, I bought her a new dress, rented a limo, and took her around to bar hop with her friends. FML

I dont see how some people can be so negligent of their significant others. I saw a comment above joke about a ********. If I couldn't afford equally nice gifts then I would be making it up to my boyfriend by cooking an amazing breakfast, lunch, and dinner and give him all the sexual pleasure he could want that day. But I guess thats just me, and maybe a handful of other girls worldwide..

If you cant afford a present then be creative and thoughtful with your gifts. Spending lots of money on something doesn't make it a good present. Why would you feel the need to make it up to him because circumstances have made it so you cant spend the exact same amount of money.

sometimes what's important is the thought u put into someone's gift. maybe u act like a kid and maybe u like to play with toys. I think it was a sweet thought. I dated a guy for 3 years and I didn't even get a happy birthday from him. so be thankful she loves u enough to remember

OP, as some have said above "It's the thought that counts" and you shouldn't expect gifts matching what you gave. However, looking at the list of gifts you received, I have to ask. Exactly how old is your girl friend? Did she graduate from middle school yet?
