Today, it was my birthday and I have no children. My father bluntly says, "Well, I guess if I get any grand-babies out of you now, they will have Down's Syndrome." I just turned 30. FML

Your dad is an ass. 35+ is when women are most at risk. And besides, there are plenty of women who successfully deliver passed that point with no issues.

I was born when my mom was thirty, and I have two younger brothers she had at 33 and 36. We're all perfectly healthy. So don't stress it too much! That was not a cool thing for your dad to say.

I gave birth to my first, and only, child at 34 and he's perfect. A colleague of mine is pregnant with her first now and she's 39 but all her tests show her baby is perfect. The risks don't increase until age 35 but even then it's not a guarantee. Keep yourself healthy and you and your future child(ren) will be fine. Tell dad to piss off.

My mom had me at 40 and I'm fine. Don't worry too much until passed about 35
