dont sweat it, op, your dad just sounds like a grouchy bastard. my mom had me at 40 and I'm perfectly healthy. you've got years of fertility left, so have kids if and when you choose.
Well, I have a cousin with Down Syndrome and his mother was 27 when she had him so...
My mom was 44 when I was born, and 47 when my younger sister was born. We are both perfectly fine. Not to say there is no risk of defects, but even then, no where NEAR every child born after 30 (or 40) is gonna have any issues! Keep up with your life, OP, and wait to have your kids when YOU are ready!
Dont hate this comment but thats kinda funny. Dont take jokes so heavily. he's just having fun
You're chances of having a baby with Downs are actually pretty high in your 20's although when you have one later in life, like your 40's, it increases quite a bit. Also, **** your dad. People with DS are a ******* gift from God. I'm more than lucky to have my brother in my life. He changed the way I look at the world.
Time is ticking.
My mom didn't have my brother and me until she was in her 30's and my aunt didn't have kids until she was in her 40's. All of us turned out completely fine. Yes the risk does go up, but it's still a fairly small percentage.
everyone is talking about how risky it can be to have a child at an older age which is horrible bc some women can help out of they end up becoming a mother at an older age. I've tried for years to have a child and its extremely hard for me to get pregnant and its even harder for me to carry a child but that's not stopping me from trying and I'll be 29 soon. worse case scenario is that I end up adopting a child which is the same thing that OP can do. :)
Well that was rude... I find it cute that he wants grand-babies though. Happy birthday, by the way! :)

Your dad is an ass. 35+ is when women are most at risk. And besides, there are plenty of women who successfully deliver passed that point with no issues.
It's a lot better than having kids when you're not ready for them.
