Today, my 14-year-old son's pathetic rebellion came to a head. He ran away from home, leaving a note saying he hates me and was leaving forever to be part of a gang his friends had formed. He came back an hour later crying. His whole gang had gotten mugged, which he somehow blamed me for. FML

I feel bad, but that's a bit of karma. A bit more than he bargained for, but still.

Well im glad he learned his lesson. What if he didnt come back then and instead like a year later with a girl and like 3 or 5 babies in there arms. Then what?

A rebelling teenage phase is a typical natural progression towards adulthood/independence/growth. [Would you rather him go around and always try to please everyone and be too afraid to take risks?] That said, you might want to provide him with some leadership and understanding to help him guide his way toward a decent future. Try to foster some mutual respect if possible. If you belittle him, the rebelling could get somewhat toxic.

Some kids need an ass whooping to set em straight. Hope he realizes how nice home is.

I think better parenting would fix both the running away and the level of mugging in our streets who the **** mugs a 14 year old that's just ******* sick

How does a whole entire gang of 14 year-olds get mugged? Wow.
