Today, my 2-year-old asked for cake, so I told her I would make her one. I showed her two boxes of cake and asked which one she wanted. She picked one and happily tried opening it. She'd thought a fully cooked cake is in the box. Ever tried explaining baking to a toddler? FML

"Silly, mummy's got to make it first and you can help, OK" is a good start.

what's so bad about letting a toddler hold a box? it was a cardboard box, not a knife.

I laughed so hard at this, OP. My son has done the same thing, specifically with cupcakes. Hell hath no fury like a child expecting instant cupcakes and finding out they're not! There is no amount of reasoning, either, even for a pretty logically sound child! To everyone else, get off your high horse. If you have a child, they've rejected your reality over something before. If you don't have a child, you used to be one and unless youre a robot (are you?) I promise you believed something an adult would find silly, at least once.
