Today, my best friend and I broke up with our respective girlfriends, so we could go on holiday and meet lots of new women. Instead, within a few hours, he got back with his ex, and they're planning their own holiday together. FML

OP CLARIFICATION TIME!!!!! A *month* ago, me and my ex broke up as I was moving away, 3 days later she got drunk and had rebound sex with some guy. Talking to my best mate, he said we should go on a lads holiday around Europe to get over our exs etc. (He broke up with his around the same time). Y'know - meet some girls, work on our tan, drinks on the beach, you know the drill! Yesterday, when we were supposed to book, he told me he had to pull out as he'd gotten back with his ex and wanted to go on holiday with her. That is why FML.

I love how you try and alter it now because you have seen how it was taken, your FML posting says very clearly "Today, my best friend and I broke up with our respective girlfriends, SO we could go on holiday and meet lots of new women." Ie it says you broke up SO you can do that, NOT that you did that because broke up. You very much deserved it, and glad the friend has enough sense not to break up simply to go on that.

you do realize perhaps OP fabricated the story a little bit here and there to get it submitted... it does make for a much better story the way the FML was written rather than his clarification, despite the fact the FML makes him sound like a jerk...

It is in no way an IF Then thing there. he plainly says "We broke up SO we could" not "We went BECAUSE we broke up" . "Today Me and my friend got dumped, so we decided to go on holiday looking for new women. Instead within a few hours, he got back with his ex, and they're planning their own holiday together FML" fits word count, and would have said that. OP was not somehow mythically forced to use SO because of word count. It is obvious that is NOT what was originally meant, and this new comment does attempt to totally change round the meaning of the original FML

No woman or man for that matter is THAT amazing. I'm dating a woman now who THINKS she's amazing but she's about to get dumped cuz she's a huge procrastinator, lazy and she thinks dogs & cats are more important than humans. We'll see how long that last when she can't pay the power, gas etc bill when I dump her & move out.

I don't know what kind of person you are in general, but everyone makes very, very stupid decisions in their lives. For this one: Fyl for the ex-girlfriend, and ydi for this situation. Honestly, I hope you at least learned something from this.
