I'm pretty sure he isn't allowed to do that
you must be a great employee where he doesn't want to loose you. sorry op try talking to hr to get it resolved.
The 13th amendment to the US constitution abolished slavery. You have a right to quit. See HR and make sure your final pay, vacation etc. are covered. Your boss is an idiot.
Except he is in Belgium
Reading. It's not for everyone.
......Because when *you* live in the U.S., everyone else must, too! Please read the location before commenting like this next time.
Being drafted into MLB, NFL, etc. is voluntary. ;-)
#43: From Wikipedia: The Selective Service System is authorized by the Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution which says Congress "shall have Power To ... raise and support Armies [and] To provide and maintain a Navy;" The Selective Service Act was the law which established the Selective Service System under these provisions. The article section that authorizes the Selective Service System doesn't explicitly state "conscription" or "draft" though and "raise" means to create, not conscript. Still, the act has been challenged in light of the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution which prohibits "involuntary servitude." These challenges, however, have not been supported by the courts as the Supreme Court stated in Butler v. Perry (1916):
#43: What "real world" prize are you offering?
Roses are red, Violets are blue. If your boss is named Fred, Then quickly you shall sue.
But what if OP's boss's name is Bob?
Pretty sure slavery is abolished in most modern countries. You have the right to quit. Go to HR and have them take care of establishing your last work day and getting paid for unused vacation and back wages. Your boss is an idiot.
I had this happen to me. due to my lengthy commute my boss and i spoke on the phone i resigned and thanked her for the opportunity and right before hanging up she said she'd hold the position until i figured out what i wanted. I ended up just calling HR and resigning
Can you even do that?
Getting fired is actually a really bad idea, as it has a serious effect on any financial supplements one might have.
Perhaps the boss just doesn't want to deal w/ interviewing job applicants and training a new employee....

I know it's probably a mistake... but I laughed when I saw this was under "intimacy" instead of "work."
You should talk to HR about it and make sure you make a paper trail.
