Today, my boss told me that my attitude to work is awesome and that he'd follow my example of coming in half-an-hour early every day from now on. I relish those 30 minutes as the only time I can get work done without him constantly interrupting me. So much for that. FML

Today, my boss agreed to a 20% pay rise, in exchange for adding a list of new responsibilities to my job description that will effectively double my workload, which he expects to be carried out in the same 8 hour workday, and not on overtime either. My boss is my dad and I hate him. FML

Well, maybe one day you will be that high up that you can do something like that and still earn a good amount of money. I'd ask him if he can make me a villain in one of his comic books. But that's just me... :)

I don't get these FML's. So your boss is weird... so what? Doesn't mean you deserve to earn more money than him. He probably has a great work ethic, and works harder than you. There's NOTHING wrong with being excentric.

I agree that drawing comics doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a higher position/better salary, however, the boss doesn't always have a harder work ethic. In this case, though, I'd say OP is a jerk. So your boss draws comics, so what? It sounds to me like a side hobby he's really passionate about. As long as he does his day job during the day, it doesn't matter if he indulges himself during his free time. All you can do about it is work a little harder and hope for a promotion.

If he isn't sincerely delusional, he is just a creative guy. I know 40+ year old engineers who still play D&D, and they are all making $100k+ per year. Some people have weird hobbies but, by the sound of things and the amount of money, he is probably a professional who does his job well and has a few quirks or eccentricities. I think the close minded/weird one maybe the OP.

First I chose YDI because he's a creative man. Then I chose FML by accident. So I think you should just go with it and be honored if he mentions you in there :)
