**** your boss, I hope you go anyway then sue him if he fires you.
There are lots of jobs. I would be seeing my Dad.
I'm really sorry about your dad :( And your boss is a d!ck.
I'd go to HR and the higher-ups about that one. If you were already approved, and for that reason, you should be able to report it.
There's a special place in hell for the likes of your boss. That is quite possibly one of the most disgusting things a person could do. If it were me; I'd either find someone to cover for me, talk to my union/HR or whoever, kick up a big fuss about it ... or maybe I'd just quit. I could never stand for that, not at all. Your boss isn't just a dîck-hole, he's a blōōdy dîck-farm! Bad karma on him. I only hope there's nothing but windy/rainy/stormy weather wherever he goes, as he doesn't deserve a holiday while you've got your dad to think about. I hope things turn out okay for you, though. My thoughts will be with you & your family...

No. I would have flat out refused. Let your boss explain to HR (and any labor board) why his spontaneous vacation to the Caribbean was more important than approved medical leave. File a grievance. Immediately. And then take your pre-approved time off. Your boss can ******* suck it.
I'm pretty sure that's illegal. Report your boss to the HR, although that may be unnecessary as, according to your username, he will be dead
