Hi guys! I'm the OP :) I'm 19, and my boyfriend's 20. I thought LotR was better, personally. To be fair, I've only seen one of the Star Wars movies, and he's only seen half of one of the LotR movies, so we were both a little biased. This was last night though, and by the morning, it was forgotten. We're all good now. Thanks for your comments! :)

I would personally say Star Wars, even though my friends and I had an epic Lotr marathon, because as a kid running around hitting things with my toy light sabre was fun. Both of you have good points though.

first let's all remember there's no accounting for taste and you can fight over whatever you want that said the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings are a couple of thousand pages of literature written over 15 years and during World War Two Star Wars is a set of movie scripts based on an outline that Lucas wrote over a weekend Star Wars the movie was amazing the first film that let you believe the SciFi that was on the screen was real it was hugely popular but the critics really didn't like it, It was just technology in 1977 I and my family stood outside in the Phoenix summer heat for hours to see this movie

That really depends on how you look at it. LotR pioneered modern fantasy, but Star Wars is still more culturally iconic. Whereas LotR was built upon its expansive mythos, Star Wars worked primarily with a strong story and set of characters, and the lore grew from there. JRR Tolkien would have written an encyclopedia about how hyperdrive, blasters, the Force, and lightsabers worked, but that's not how Star Wars rolls; it's not 'talky/techy' sci-fi like Star Trek.
