OP, I think he's found out & said that to prevent you embarrassing yourself in front of him, or his embarrassment if he doesn't like it. Tell him you spent 3 months writing a song & see what he says from there. Maybe either: A) give it to him as a poem in writing first; or B) record it somehow & let him listen in his own time privately & can structure his feedback?
