Today, my boyfriend asked me out to dinner, which we never do. While at the restaurant he gets down on his knees, looks me in the eyes, and pulls out a little box. He opens it and inside is a note that says 'We're Done.' He then leaves me at the restaurant with the bill and the $2.00 box. FML

Today, I went to a restaurant with my boyfriend. After dessert, he went to the bathroom so I quickly called the waiter over and paid the bill, thinking it was a nice gesture. When he returned, he broke up with me for "emasculating" him. FML

How clueless are people? This is the second time today we saw a girl who was expecting to be proposed to get dumped instead. There's a lot of gray area between "I want to spend forever with you" and "Get the **** outta here, now, bitch." I guess as long as we have dolts who don't know where they are on that spectrum, we'll have an endless supply of FML's.

Two years ago, my BF had told me he was going to propose. We were figuring out when we wanted to get married, because we wanted to decide before we got engaged. He had the whole shebang figured out, and right about when he was going to officially pop the question, he called me and said we were done, end of story. How the hell did I not know where we were "on the spectrum"? The asshole kept it from me. Put up a front, called me the love of his life the night before. He even told my family he was going to propose. Yes, it is possible for guys to be that much of a DB. Yes, it is possible for them to spring a breakup on a girl out of effing left field. I wasn't a dolt, I was conned, and maybe the OP was too.
