Today, my boyfriend broke up with me because I'm boring and never go to the bar with him. He knows I'm a recovering alcoholic. FML

I wasn't planning on commenting if this got published, but I decided to create an account to thank you guys for your supportive comments. I also wanted to add that I do know I'm better off, it's just difficult because we have a daughter together. Thankfully I have an amazing support system around me and I don't have to deal with this by myself

When I hear something like that, I am always wondering whether the guy is completely stupid (he does not see why it would be a problem for you to go to the bar) or he was just looking for a bullshit excuse to break up... Either way, you are better off without him.

I gotta say I can see why he left you. If two people start a relationship both as drinkers and one of them quits then the equation has changed. It's not that you are wrong just the two don't fit anymore. You just matured faster then he did.
