Today, my boyfriend called me and I told him about the AnimeCon I'm attending, and that I wanted to go as Sailor Mars, he told me he had no idea what that was. After being mad for about ten minutes, I realized that I wanted to break up with him over not knowing what Sailor Moon was. FML

How old are you? Ten? You don't break up with someone for that kind of reason.

Lol, you should turn up at his house dressed like her... I'm sure he will be delighted :)

Maybe you should break up with him. You're obviously too childish to be in a relationship with someone anyway, if you get pissed because they don't know what a Sailor Mars is. Your boyfriend deserves better than you.

Okay, so obviously, the original thought was childish. However, you seemed to recognize this as a silly reason to be upset. It's a good thing if you're mature enough to catch something like that in yourself before you take it too far.

Eww Misa's a bitch. I hate her. xD;;; Love Death Note though.

So yes, there are some people who hate anime, some people who think it's alright, some people who like/love it, and then people who are neutral about it because they choose not to be on either side of the fence. What is absolutely ridiculous is the fact that people automatically assume that others who like anime are complete losers. That's isn't true for the most part. Yes, there are the stereotypical anime fans who have acne (I'm not helping my cause on that one, but guess what? IT'S NOT MY FAULT. It's in my genetics!) I did comment on this before saying that the OP is blowing it completely out of proportion. Though she didn't state that she actually broke up with her boyfriend, I don't think it's entirely a smart idea just to consider breaking up with someone because they don't know what a specific anime show is... I wouldn't get pissed off about it; I'd probably end up seeing if they're interested in it at all, and continue to explain. That's just me though. I agree with people who say she shouldn't have been so out of proportion about it, but it's not like I'm one of the people who hate anime (if you knew me personally, you would know it's the complete opposite. I love it because it's interesting, and apart of another culture. Depending on the show you're watching, the art can be very good too). Yes, you were acting way over the top about it, but hopefully you didn't do the wrong thing. Try to be more accepting. Don't fly off the handle if someone says that they don't know what/which anime you're talking about. I'm also sorry that people are being condescending towards you just for being anime. You realized your mistake. You don't need to listen to their negativity. =] (Oh shit this comment is huge... I hate it when I go type-happy)
