Honestly, I'm not sure there's anything wrong here, my grandmother regularly calls the women I date my "friend" when introducing them to others. (One at a time, but it's happened with several different girlfriends over the years). It's not that my grandmother disrespects the relationship in any way, she just talks like that. I guess she finds the term "friend" more comfortable to say than trying to decide between "date", "girlfriend", "partner", "significant other", etc... Of course, boyfriend's mom might also be a bitch.
At least in Hispanic families the boyfriend or the girlfriend are always introduced as the friend unless they are married or engaged

10 years? And you're still his girlfriend? I think that may be the reason she referred to you as his friend. He either sucks at commitment or this is a very open relationship. Still a mean thing to do, of course.
