What would be the point in even saying that? If you two are going to a restaurant together it's either as friends and that wouldn't come up or you're going as potential interest and it still wouldn't happen. I'm calling BS, because guys are nearly always open to a fling (unless he's gay) when they're single. Whether or not you're a supermodel you could be a fun **** and most men think about that, we just (hopefully) have the tact not to say such things. That is unless they're really shallow and he wouldn't be giving you his time if that were the case.
