Today, my dad got a warning from our ISP for going well over their fair usage limit. I barely use our wifi, and I keep telling him he should password-protect our router to stop people leeching our Internet. He's blaming me anyway, and says I'm grounded until January. FML

I guess your dad doesn't want to admit he downloaded gigabytes of gay **** videos. If he password-protects the router, he doesn't have a credible excuse anymore.

Just add a password yourself and go connect his devices. Unless he has to connect something else, he probably wont look at the network settings again. Also, you could tell him that anyone can connect and download illegal data, which could technically be traced back to him.

Since you are grounded why don't you lock your own wifi and watch your other family members freak out when they can't use it! At least you can create your own entertainment!

Hey this might be buried but ill tell you how to do it yourself. Go on google and type in whats my IP adress. It will gake you to a website that will tell you. Then type in that IP into the search bar and it will take you to the router info. It will ask you for a username and password and if your parents arent smart they never changed it. The username is: admin. the password is: password. There you go now from there you should be able to change your password!

Password protect it yourself. And make the password (your name)is right.

I run WPA2 and found an unknown intruder on my network the other day. I was scanning in an attempt to figure out why I was having network problems. Also, I happen to be a professional in this business... Well, a new key helped but I'm still very concerned. If these idiots can hack me, what chance does the rest of the world have?

WPA2 with a very long key since it cant still be brute forced.
