The shark does
Wait, girls are afraid of their own periods, what has the world come to??
Just don't eat any peanut butter snickers squared candy bars before diving in the water.
as a diver, you're much safer as another large, moving body in the water. do some research on the water you'll be diving in, find out what kind of sharks are native there, and you'll actually feel a lot better after finding out what their hunting habits are, and whether or not they even will be home this time of year. another fun fact... I've seen dolphins bump sharks away from people. if dolphins are a popular inhabitant of your destination you'll be even less likely to be eaten alive. THAT, or you are the one unlucky statistic that gets totally ******! ha! just to offer some reassurance, I live on North Padre Island and am a surfer of one year and my boyfriend is of 22, in the water since age 4. sharks occasionally get a nip at a dude's foot but only because we leave them dangling in the water when we sit and sharks mistake foot for fish. hahh.
Maybe it's his way of saying, "I love you. Be careful?" *snort*
I think that the OP's dad has a quirky sense of humor, and that the OP is just a little bit nervous - both of which are natural and pretty normal things. I'd be worried if I caught my dad stuffing my wet suit with rotting meat however! ;)

That bites. But, hey, have fun on the dive!
As long as you're not on your period you should be fine!
