I had similar thoughts after reading this. Ignoring hygiene is often a sign of depression and it's plausible that it may be the result of an assault, as you said. Her severe reaction (i.e., crying for hours) is also problematic. It sounds like she needs to undergo mental evaluation. Poor kid.
