I feel sorry for the rabbit but at the same time I wonder how the dog got it in the first place? Is the rabbit just running loose in the garden? Because if the neighbour's dog can get it, other predators probably can as well.

Did you not have control over your dog and just have it roaming? Because if so YDI. If the neighbors didn't have their rabbit secure in some sort of run and your dog was properly tied out then FYL. It really depends on the details.
