Today, my favorite fish died. To make things better my parents thought to take me out to dinner. We ate sushi. FML

"Sushi" doesn't mean "raw fish". It refers to the rice, not the fish. You can have all-vegetable sushi. Of course, I don't see much reason, since it wasn't something you cared about BEFORE it had personal relevance to you, which is rather hypocritical.

When my sisters fish died, I had to make it a coffin out of balsa wood and carve a gravestone with it's name in it to stop her from bawling. Then, I had to sing amazing grace while burying it in for her. Shes 14....

Ignore the people who are saying "get over it, it was just a fish" and such. A pet is a pet, and it hurts when a pet dies.

Your parents brought you out to dinner to make you feel better because your fish died?

I know how you feel. I was destroyed when my betta, Lumin, died. People who think you can't get attached to fish (or are pathetic for doing so) are know-nothing assholes. Your parent's choice was...eh...poor. But they meant well, and I'm sure they meant no insult. I hope you feel happier soon, OP.

Wow..... I wonder if they were brothers......
