Today, my fiancé told me that he was having second thoughts on our engagement. Instead of just calling it off, he took me to a fancy restaurant and took a public poll on whether we should get married. The majority said no. FML

Today, at a dinner I'd been planning for months with my fiancé to talk to our families about the wedding for the first time, he told me he didn't want to get married. I cried in front of both of our families and a dozen of strangers. FML

Today, at our wedding, instead of saying "I do", my fiancé paused before saying, "I can't do this", stepped down from the altar and proposed to my maid of honor. When she obviously refused, he ran from the venue bawling. He's not returning my calls. FML

Today, I was out with my boyfriend, when he started browsing wedding rings. He found a ring, proposed to me right there in front of a crowd, and then was promptly denied a payment plan. We left without a ring. FML

If I had been amongst the people that your ex asked around whether he should get married to you or not, I would have said no, not because you don't look right for him, but because of the utter embarrassment I would have noticed on your face. No one deserves to be treated like this. Marriage is a decision made between two people that does not involve the opinion of the public. Don't get discouraged, OP. You will find someone deserving, mature and caring with whom to share your life.
