Today, my girlfriend's parents wanted to cook dinner for me. After a whole day of cooking up a storm, her parents cooked an elaborate meal of roast lamb, pork chops and grilled chicken. Rejecting a meal is like spitting in ones face in Chinese culture. I'm vegetarian. FML

Why didn't you tell them that when you found out they wanted to cook for you? Unless you had no idea until you arrived for dinner. In which case, FYL indeed.

That sounds like a hell of a meal you missed out on.

YDI. You could have stuck it out for one night!

who makes a meal of just meat? that sounds disgusting. i need some starch and veggies in my diet as well. and your girlfriends retarded for not being like oh yeah hes a vegetarian. unless of course she doesn aproove of you being a vegetarian. in which case shes still lame.

you should have told them you were vegetarian. but... why didn't your girlfriend tell them? that's weird... of course, they shouldn't have cooked without asking if you even liked what they were cooking, that's just stupid.

Who cares what the OP does or doesn't eat? It's his life, so stfu. I think the bigger problem here is the parents. Eating is kinda a personal thing; I mean, you're putting something into your body. You don't want someone else telling you how to eat, so why is it ok to tell someone else how to eat? The parents have no right to try to regulate someone else's diet, regardless of whether or not he's vegetarian, and they shouldn't be offended when their meal is declined. Different people have different tastes. Don't take it as a personal attack on your beliefs. Even if it's not a dietary thing, I'm personally sick of having to choke down food I just plain don't like to keep from offending someone. GROW A PAIR.
