By best breast - 06/04/2018 00:00

Today, my husband and I hosted Easter dinner. Since I was in my own home, I breastfed without a cover. My sister-in-law stormed out in a rage, screaming that I was being obscene, and equated it to shooting heroin in front of her kids. Happy Easter indeed. FML

There is nothing wrong with feeding your own child. She should have known better than to do it because she is also a mother just like you.

Is she the chairman of the Itty Bitty Titty Committy*? *Yeah, I know it’s really “committee.”

your husband didn't get to pick his family...

Usually women who are so aggressively against public breastfeeding are either women who were taught to be ashamed of their body and / or feel defensive because they didn’t breastfeed themselves, even if the breastfeeding mother doesn’t give a flying **** since it’s a personal choice. Some also are so insecure that they think breastfeeding mothers are trying to seduce their husband and attract attention, as if there was anything sexy about a baby’s mouth attached to a breast leaking milk, smh…

I think the main part of this that makes it FML worthy is that it wasn't public, it was in her own home, which her sister in law was a guest in.

Let me guess... you're in America right? Don't worry, there is NOTHING wrong with what you did. Ignore her.

I know breast feeding is what breasts were designed for and that you can do whatever you like but if you normally wear a cover and you weren't in private maybe asking might be a good idea. Just to avoid situations like this.

Fair point. So next time you feel hungry and want to go out for dinner, make sure to ask other people permission first in case they get offended. Also don't forget to put a blanket over your head so people don't have to see you chewing.

T1A2Z3, OP wasn't out in public. She was hosting Easter dinner at her own home.... Now OP knows whom not to invite over anymore. More food for everybody else!

OP was in her home, with family members. I would consider that "in private". And to equate breast feeding with shooting up drugs is rather demented. I admit to being a bit weirded out when I see a woman breastfeeding, but I also know that 1) society has conditioned us to sexualize women's breasts and 2) it's what women's boobs were designed to do. I can always look somewhere else.

It isn't really about the place where you feed but about the company in which you are in. If you are feeding in a public place with nobody around it doesn't matter if you cover anything. If you have a huge party at home the major point is not home but party.

Don’t welcome her back into your home if she can’t handle it.
