I'm guessing you're a teenager who doesn't understand how immature and inappropriate this is. It's a party where everyone is most likely wearing fancy, somewhat expensive clothes, with food that is usually exorbitantly priced, and OP's husband ruined all of that, plus his wife's memories of the day she's probably been looking forward to all her life. There are plenty of situations where starting a food fight might be funny, but a wedding reception is definitely not one of them. I pity OP for marrying this insensitive man-child.

Is it not tradition anyways to smash some cake in the husbands or wifes face? Every wedding I've ever attended has had something along the lines of a food fight occur, and its only ever lightened the mood and encouraged a more entertaining reception. What's wrong with a bit of fun? Brides these days are so stuffy and lack the understanding of fun.
