Today, my left-handed boss needed PC help. I said "right-click for the menu." She said nothing happened. Three times we went through this. Eventually I went over, asking her to show me what she did. She was using her right hand on the left mouse button. She earns £10,000 more than me. FML

Because using a different hand will automatically make your computer behave differently. Your boss is an idiot.

Haha, I think you need a raise. Or she needs a pay cut.

I don't understand. Whichever hand you're using, the right-click button is still on the right and the left one is still on the left. If you put the mouse on the other side of the computer or use a different hand, it's not like they switch sides or something.

If you ever become likeable enough to make it into management, there will be some technology that you don't understand. Unless your company is updating your skills constantly, you will be obsolete within 10 years and that manager will still be there. She isn't paid to know the technology. You are. You can be easily replaced by the thousands of IT people out of jobs. Sleep well tonight knowing that.

yeah, but rly markO? its common sense that 'right click' does not mean 'click with your right hand' if you're not sharp enough to comprehend an older comp term like that, than you yourself are obsolete. also, how do you know that the OP is paid to understand the technology? what if they just work in reception or something and was just asked by the office manager to help because they were physically the closest person to them? think about that.

Who actually USES the left handed option?

#132/xdorkasaur: I've only see one person that I can recall, and she actually moved the mouse over to the left side as well. I'm a lefty, myself, but I leave the thing over on the right. I also shoot right-handed and use most tools right-handed, but I throw and write left-handed. Go figure. #133/PyroMicky: Sadly, yes. That said, I work for a major state University. As a result of the recession, our U. President just did something nearly unprecedented: He cut SEVERAL vice president and similarly high level administrative positions, thus saving three times as many lower-level jobs. In his words, "Everyone I talked to was a vice president. It was ridiculous." So yeah, as a rule, American organizations tolerate far too many idiots in management, but it seems that the recession has given many of them the excuse to cut through the internal political bullshit and fire their worthless asses. ;)
